Not so much a boutique, more of a style warehouse! We love Bailleys Home Store!
This is how hey describe themselves:
The things we sell are a surprising mix of vintage and new from a variety of sources - but they all share the qualities integral to our repair, reuse, rethink philosophy.
One of our favourite things is to reuse unloved bits and pieces (small or large) that we find on our travels, and give them a new lease of life - it's our version of recycling... so abandoned bobbins from old textile mills turn up on our shelves as egg timers, lamp bases or string holders; scraps of floor board become mirror frames, tables or even kitchen units.
When we're not rescuing and recycling, we design simple useful products with a subtle sense of humour and nice labels. We also source some things from small family run companies who have been making the same things for generations - such as beautiful Burleigh pottery - still made in Stoke-on-Trent.
Our biggest project so far has been the move to Whitecross Farm - it's taken about 2 years to sympathetically restore and repair the run down buildings and turn them into our store, which is definitely worth a visit.
Verandah is owned & run by friends Simone Russell and Penny Meachin.
Together they have set out to create two unique and startling shops. Both shops are veritable Aladdin's Caves, crammed full of unusual and beautiful products at affordable prices. If you are looking for an unusual gift, a present for the kids, something for your house or home, a wedding present, a fabulous new dress or simply want a unique shopping and browsing experience, Verandah is the place for you. Choose from a diverse range of witty greeting cards, toys and pocket money goodies, children's clothing, jewellery, home accessories, candles, books, beauty products and one off designer clothing samples.
The friendly and helpful service, with presents gift wrapped while you wait, makes Verandah the perfect destination wonderland for all your gift requirements.
Verandah has two stylish lifestyle emporiums at:
117 Chamberlayne Rd, Kensal Rise NW10 3NS
116 College Rd, Kensal Green NW10 5HD.

cSee opened its doors in February 2009, led by Cara & Hayley Mitchell and pet Pug Betty aka PIGGY. They each share a vision of creating a concept store dedicated to personal style! It is a labour of love to seek out “the best” in ready to wear and life style collections from established designers as well as up and coming & exciting niche labels. Csee boutique and all thats within is for fashionistas everywhere!
“I think the idea of mixing luxury and mass-market fashion is very modern - wearing head-to-toe designer has become a bit passe. It’s a new era in fashion - there are no rules.... It’s all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels, and up-and-coming designers all together” - Alexander McQueen.

We haven't personally been to this Csee boutique in the flesh, but judging by the designer selection and how thought out the website is were guessing it's worth a try! If you do get a chance to check out 'Csee', then please let us know your comments! Bx

Beauty editor Karena Callen (ex-Red, ex-Elle) has opened the kind of beautique that frankly you'd be happy to stumble upon in any corner of our fair isles. In fact, it's in Rye (East Sussex), a convenient hop-skip-and-a-jump from Jo's home town of Hastings - but definitely worth a pilgrimage from much, much further afield.
What will you find? Beautiful Miller Harris fragrances, the cutest discoveries from Sussex-based Juliette at Home (loving the teacup candles and the gorgeously gift-wrapped soaps), This Works skincare and bath oils (we swear by Deep Calm), Adrianne's vintage-inspired jewellery, Max Benjamin candles, Cartolina cards (our favourite), and lingerie from Tallulah Love, which comes in powder-style boxes.
Viva Violetta stoks vintage items too, aswell as Paul & Joe, Narciso Rodriguez fragrances, and - fingers crossed - the amazing perfumes of Serge Lutens, which will definitely be a fragrant Sussex first. If you're lucky, you'll find Karena there, too: as lovely, clever and drily funny a beauty editor as you could hope to meet. And if you're very lucky, she might answer your beauty conundrums.

The recession has not dampened British women's love of fashion as new research shows nearly half of female shoppers have spent the same or more on their clothes in the last year.
A report published by Mintel this week reveals that despite gloomy reports that consumers are tightening their purse strings, over half of UK consumers (54%) did not reduce the amount they spent on updating their wardrobes. More than four in ten consumers (43%) did not change their clothes shopping habits and a dedicated one in ten (11%) followers of fashion said they actually spent more on clothes than they usually would over the past year.
Overall, nearly half of women in the UK (12.7 million) spent the same or more on their clothes despite the economic difficulties.
So the "Lipstick Effect" really is true! Great news for all those indy fashion boutiques out there!
